The benefit cap is a cap on the total amount of benefit that most people of working age can claim. The cap is £296.35 a week for a single person inside London
£442.31 a week if you are in a couple or family inside London
You're not affected by the cap if you or your partner work and either of the below apply:
You or your partner are able to claim working tax credit
You or your partner get Universal Credit and your income is more that £430 a month after tax and NI contributions
