This week’s Mental Health Music & Arts Festival at the Kiln Cinema was another really uplifting community moment for Ashford Place. The afternoon brought together local residents, artists, and mental health champions for a relaxed mix of music, poetry, magic, spoken word and creative performance.
A big highlight was hearing from artists with lived experience of mental health challenges. Their honesty, humour and creativity gave the event real heart, reminding everyone how powerful the arts can be in helping people express themselves and feel connected.
This year’s programme carried a lovely Irish influence too, thanks to ongoing support from the Government of Ireland. Irish music and cultural themes blended naturally with the wider mix of voices from across Brent’s diverse communities.
Attendance was strong once again, continuing the momentum from last September’s festival. Overall, it was a warm, hopeful, fun and inspiring afternoon – a real celebration of community, creativity and courage. A huge thank you to everyone who performed, attended, or supported the event and helped make it such a memorable day.
Let’s do this again.
