Last Thursday morning, we hit the road, taking fifty clients on a day trip to Broadstairs! This excursion wasn’t just about the services we provide at Ashford Place; it was an opportunity for our clients to enjoy a fun and relaxing day by the sea together. As they basked in the sun, they also strengthened the friendships they’ve formed during their time at Ashford Place.
The excitement was palpable as we all boarded the bus at 9 a.m. The two-and-a-half-hour drive to our lovely destination flew by, with the bus echoing with song and laughter. Our friendly driver, Hussain, even informed us that there was a working microphone on the bus—put to good use, of course!
Upon arrival, we disembarked and set a meeting point for later in the afternoon. Broadstairs, with its calm turquoise edge along the longest stretch of coastal chalk in the UK, looked like a picture postcard from the promenade.
Throughout the day, our clients were well taken care of, and the Ashford Place Team ensured they could be reached if any issues arose. As evening fell, our group gathered at the designated meeting point, sun-kissed and happy after a day of fun. And true to form, our line dancers took to the streets, impressing and entertaining locals of all ages who couldn’t resist joining in!
With everyone accounted for and safely back on the bus, we headed home, singing and dancing all the way. It was a memorable day—a chance to break the monotony, connect, and combat loneliness within our community.
Our clients unanimously agreed that it was a great day—one they’ll remember for a long time. And as for Hussain, our friendly driver? He summed it up perfectly: “One of the most fun trips I’ve had on his bus!”
