Dementia Friendly Red Watch

10.05.2022

This week LFB Brent ‘Red Watch’ took part in Dementia Friends training at Wembley Fire Station.  Some 30 Officers gathered and took part in the interactive session to learn more about dementia so that they can make a difference in Brent and help raise awareness about dementia, reducing the stigma.  Sandy Youngson from Brent Council and a Volunteer from the Alzheimer’s Society encouraged the trainees to think about how fire fighters can make a difference and make  ‘every contact count’.  The training session will help fire fighters to identify if someone might need support and to know how to refer them to the Dementia Hub’s Team, ensuring that they get the help they need so that they can continue to live well with dementia. We will be continuing to work together over the coming months to run  fire safety sessions at the dementia cafes. Thank you red Watch!
