The Dementia Hubs Team has been supporting the dementia community for the past 3 years and has helped hundreds of clients to get the support they need when they are diagnosed. Getting a diagnosis can be very difficult for families and the team are there to support in any way possible. One of the ways in which we help is to ensure that any additional income or discounts available are claimed. This in itself can be a daunting task, with lots of forms to complete but the team are on hand to help. The Hubs team at Ashford Place helped clients to increase their income by a whopping £206,000 in the last 11 months alone. How amazing! This extra money will help people living with dementia to have a worry free winter and will mean that the additional costs associated with having a disability are met. We know that the extra money is used for things like care in the home or taxi’s to ensure the person living with dementia is able to get out and enjoy life. It might pay for the extra costs of washing and drying clothes if the person has incontinence or extra heating costs if they feel the cold or refuse to dress appropriately for the winter. However the money is used it certainly helps our clients continue to live a full and active life with dementia. Well done Sheila and Simone!
