Matron’s visit

02.08.2023

We were delighted this week to invite Alex, Matron for Older People and Dementia Services, Northwick Park Hospital, and Activities Coordinator Rhoda to our dementia peer support programme. We heard from Alex about her job of making sure that anyone in hospital who is living with dementia accesses good quality care, as well as her involvement in creating dementia friendly hospitals in the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. Rhoda told us all about her activities programme and how she makes sure patients while they are in hospital are fully occupied. It is great to have these new contacts as we will share with our people living with dementia and their Carers. We occasionally hear of stories where patients who live with dementia are misunderstood and sometimes neglected. Rhoda said that hospital can be a confusing place for dementia patients so she is pleased that she can be there to reassure them and make them feel comfortable. Our people said it was good to know that Alex, Rhoda and colleagues were in post and that they welcomed contact regarding any issue related to people in hospital.
