National Volunteers week

25.07.2024

To mark National Volunteers Week the five volunteers who attend every Tuesday’s Dementia Café at Ashford Place, were presented with ‘Thank You’ certificates by members of the DeCafe, in recognition of their dedication and support to the café. Vivienne, Patsy, Ann, Caty and John attend weekly and share their empathy, kindness and laughter with members while also providing assistance with tasks, running the gentle exercise sessions, making the tea and coffee and ensuring everyone gets home on their ‘Dial-A-Ride’. The volunteers provide an important support role to the smooth running of the DeCafe.

Afternoon Tea at Ashford Place DeCafe

The members of Ashford Place Dementia Café enjoyed a very special afternoon of music, song , dance and gentle exercise when a group of volunteers from Carey’s Construction led by Michele, attended the weekly Tuesday afternoon session on July 16th. The volunteer team chatted, sang, and danced with the DeCafe members and there was much laughter and joking during the very enjoyable exercise session. Following the activities the Café members were entertained to a delicious selection of afternoon tea treats - scones, cakes and pastries, followed by a sing-song led by De Café regular Bernard whose rendition of Elvis’  ‘The Wonder of You’ had everyone on their feet.

Carey Construction are long term friends and patrons of Ashford Place and their support and sponsorship is very much appreciated.
