We were thrilled to create a very special piece of music in honour of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, working alongside the wonderful musicians of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as part of their Sound Sanctuary programme who visited us last week.
During the session at Ashford Place, participants and RPO musicians came together to co‑create an original song inspired by the natural world. Drawing on poetry, shared reflections and a love of wildlife, the group created To Be a Bee — a joyful dedication to David Attenborough and his lifelong commitment to protecting nature and inspiring us all to care for the world around us.
This session was a beautiful celebration not only of nature, creativity and wellbeing, but also of five years of working in partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Over that time, music‑making has brought connection, confidence and joy to local people, and this project felt like a fitting and uplifting milestone in that journey.
We are incredibly proud of this collaboration and grateful to everyone who helped make this moment so special.
