Our Dementia Peer Support Group enjoyed a day out to the Tower of London this week, the first ever pre-booked dementia friendly visit held by the Historic Royal Palaces. The group happily gave feedback to the organisers on how the Tower of London could be made more accessible and welcoming for all. We were given a tour of the moat, enjoyed a wellbeing walk through a path of wildflowers, gazed at all the Crown Jewels, and had fun spotting the beefeaters and dressed up medieval characters. Ploughing up the cobblestones with our wheelchairs and trolleys was a team effort but the excitement of being a part of history kept us all in good spirits! A big thanks to Innovations in Dementia for funding the trip, and the Community Team at the Historic Royal Palaces for inviting us! Hopefully the first of many trips to the Royal Palaces.
