It was wonderful to see Betty come through the door of Ashford Place for our Wednesday Support Group yesterday. This was Betty’s first time to come to see us since the beginning of the pandemic so it was a big step and a great achievement for her. Our Befriending Team have been gently encouraging Betty to come back to Ashford Place whenever she felt ready and this has paid off as Betty was looking very well and feeling positive yesterday. Our Befriending Team have been in constant contact with Betty from the beginning of the pandemic and she, like many others, has found it very hard at times but perseverance has won the day and she felt now was her time to come back to us again.
She enjoyed chatting to her friends who she hasn’t seen for a very long time before dining in our lunch hall for her freshly cooked meal. She also joined in our socially distanced Wednesday Wellbeing Singing Session for a song before going back home.
Betty said she had a lovely time and will come back again next week and we certainly look forward to seeing her.
Coming back to Ashford Place is very good for our clients physical and mental wellbeing as getting out of the house and socialising in the community again is a bit step for a lot of them.
We are delighted our clients have come back to us as we understand it takes time to get used to coming out of lockdown and socialising agin.
