We met this week to discuss Where the Crawdads Sing. This 5* read was enjoyed by everyone in the group. Discussions were on natural naturalists, desertion, vulnerabilities, friendships, trust and much more. The poet in our group, poet Carol read The Firefly, a poem at the conclusion of the book which we felt summed up the complexities of the book. We talked about books we have reread – Wuthering Heights, To Kill a Mockingbird and Dolly Parton – a life Story and all agreed that we like short stories but somehow the next book for our next meeting is a tome – The Great Shame by Thomas Keneally. Newcomers are welcome and our next meet up is 9th December 2021.
