Celebrating new friendships

07.03.2020

During our Friday morning wellbeing group this morning Dolly and Petula* (not real names but the alias’ they chose!) mentioned how they had been coming to our wellbeing groups for a year.  They take part in: art, baking. singing, wellbeing, walking and much more.  We are delighted that they feel “100% safe” here and that they feel we “look after the whole person” and both report a growth in confidence.  The project aims to deliver improvement in mental health by helping service users be part of the community and to grow in confidence.  The project delivers improvements in mental health through engagement in meaningful activities, training and exercise programmes.

Dolly said “ I was recommended to Ashford Place by someone from Roundwood Mental Healthcare. I love coming here and doing all the different activities. I’ve made some good friends and I would be lost without Ashford Place. The year has gone by so quick but I love coming here three times a week. the staff are loving and caring towards all of us”.

Petula said “I have been coming to Ashford Place since 2018 and I have never been at a centre that is so warm and inviting. I have met some really nice people and have made a couple of friends. My husband has seen a difference in me. I am more vibrant and have a lot more to share with him. I don’t know where I would be without the support of Ashford Place. It has become a vital part of my life and I would be lost without it”.

If you know anyone who would benefit from joining this project, please get in touch [email protected]. We would also like to hear from people who could deliver some wellbeing talks or activities and from baristas who might like to volunteer to help in our Side Door Café.
