Michael had been staying in our supported accommodation since 2016. He unfortunately suffered a stroke in 2014 which left him paralysed on one side of his body. This severely impacted his physical capacity and he became housebound in his wheelchair. There had been some complications due to his immigration status which made it difficult to help move him in a place that would allow him to gain independence again. However, he has received tremendous support from his wonderful healthcare worker who regularly visits and assists him. Recently, Michael made the choice to move to a new home to regain his independence. He even started to walk a little again with the aid of his walking stick. His caseworkers at Ashford Place had been working to help him achieve his goals. A miracle happened this month and he has now moved into a beautiful one bedroom flat just down the road and is over the moon! It’s been a while since we’ve seen Michael smile, we wish him the best in his new place!! Take a look below to see him all set up with his TV.
