Students abroad

29.03.2022

We were delighted to host a visit by a group of American students this week. The students are on a study abroad semester in London from Drew University in New Jersey, New York. They are studying a range of courses, incorporating sociology, English literature, and the anthropology of London. In the latter course, we are looking at the origins of social inequality in the UK and how the make-up of British society has changed over the past 50 years. We've looked at social housing, immigration, and wage inequality. Some of the students work with charities in the US, particularly trying to help people access housing benefits and safe accommodation. They are really interested in the approaches taken in Britain and we thrilled to have the opportunity to get out of the classroom and into the real World when we visited Ashford Place! Thank you for having us.
