Carers of people living with dementia in Brent have been attending a programme of support, training and sharing over the last five weeks which has now come to an end although we are encouraging Dementia Carers Count to continue their great work in our borough if they can. Held at Ashford Place, and previously at other dementia cafes in Brent, the programme has been a huge success, as evidenced by some of the comments of carers which include;
The sessions are run by Lissy, the Dementia Carers Count’s London-based practitioner, are interactive and include discussion on topics such as ‘What is dementia?’, ‘looking after yourself as a carer’, 'symptoms of dementia' etc, and of course a key part is the opportunity for questions and discussions, as well as being able to share experiences.
