Gabby joined Ashford Place back in October 2017 as a Dementia Café Coordinator at a time where there were only two cafes, both funded by statutory funding, and which soon closed. Over the years Gabby has left an indelible mark on the borough with the creation of 23 cafes in all, some of which closed during Covid but are now back to 14 and counting. All the cafes are independently run by local communities and continue to be the main source of support for people living with dementia and carers. Much of Gabby’s work has involved supporting local initiatives that want to support local residents living with dementia, as well as tackling health inequalities in the borough. Gabby has certainly left her mark and whilst her project has now come to an end we hope that her ambition for full community support will continue to be realised, even in her absence. We have a number of funders and supporters to thank for the Dementia Café programme including City Bridge Trust, Zurich Community Trust, CNWL, Brent Council and various individuals who have shown their support over the years. All of the above has been possible through the tenacity and perseverance shown by Gabby over the years. We wish her well in her new role.
