Effects of homelessness on Physical and Mental Health.

Homelessness and the threat of homelessness puts people a higher risk for victimisation, poor health, loneliness, and depression, and a host of other issues.  Homelessness can affect a person’s quality of life - sleeping rough with no facilities of washing or cooking and the difficulty in eating healthily and being able to care for themselves are some of the factors affecting the physical and mental health of this group of people.

Ashford Place offers help to some rough sleepers and in particular to people at risk of homelessness. We work together to help them to find accommodation that meet their needs, we help them access appropriate benefits and encourage and help them to live independently.  We advise and educate them about their statutory health and social care rights.  We maintain a relationship for as long as it takes to get people living independently.
