Cad-brent in partnership with Brent Council delivered a dementia awareness training to Councillors this week led by Sandy Youngson, Making Every Contact Count Officer at Brent Council followed by a Q&A session with panel members representing unpaid carers (Kawal Singh from the Memory Lounge at Barham Library), Dementia Hubs manager, Danny Maher from CAD-Brent.org.uk, Adult Social Care service Manager - Monica Burnett-Thompson, Brent Council, and Dr Abhishek Shastri, Consultant Psychiatrist. Brent Memory Services. Councillors have been asking for this opportunity for some time given the number of enquiries they receive from their constituents relating to dementia e.g. what services and support programmes are available for people living with dementia, for their unpaid carers, how can we access our GP and the Memory Service, how can we slow down the progress of dementia, is there a cure for dementia and many other questions that are constant concerns in the minds of people impacted by the disease.
