Barham Memory Lounge with support from the first ever Mayor’s Community Weekend programme provided a fun, lively Big Picnic to Brent’s dementia community, volunteers and supporters. The Memory Lounge was supported with funding from the Mayor’s Office to run activities that celebrate and support building strong community relationships. And we definitely did that i.e. celebrated, enjoyed and caught up with friends and acquaintances over excellent food and drinks. Over the years people living with dementia and carers have consistently said they want more opportunity to socialise, to connect with people outside of their homes, to learn from and support each other. This Mayor’s Community Weekend programme gave us that opportunity and hopefully there will be many more occasions like this. See our listing at List of voluntary and community groups Barham Memory Lounge is a shining example of what a dementia café is and does and in fact such is it’s popularity that it recently opened a second Memory Lounge.
