This week, thanks to the generosity of JJ Rhatigan Building Contractors, we had the pleasure of hosting a midweek lunch for 25 of our older Irish male clients at the iconic Claddagh Ring pub. Known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Claddagh Ring provided the perfect setting for a hearty meal that brought us together in conversation and laughter. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to set aside their worries, reconnect with old friends, and enjoy the lively banter.
These gatherings are more than just a meal; they are a vital part of our mission to support our clients in socialising, taking a break from their daily challenges, and building the confidence to tackle the seemingly insurmountable obstacles they face in their quest for wellbeing and good health. Many of our vulnerable residents struggle with the bureaucratic nature of daily life, often stemming from early childhood adversity and traumatic events. The often transactional and impersonal nature of statutory support services only adds to their difficulties. This outing in Hendon is part of a broader program designed to help our clients overcome both personal and institutional barriers.
Our clients need personalised, person-centred, timely, patient, and relational support to make positive lifestyle choices. At Ashford Place, we strive to build transformational relationships with our clients. We offer a warm welcome and take the time to truly understand their needs and wishes. Our community centre provides a comfortable space where clients can enjoy a cup of tea, wait for their appointments or activities to begin, and relax and enjoy.
By creating these supportive environments and opportunities, we aim to empower our clients to lead healthier, happier lives.
