What new banknotes will look like – our service users who attend our activities enjoyed taking part in the Bank of England’s appeal for ideas for the first major redesign of banknotes in 50 years.
It wasn’t just the design we were sending in to Ms Cleland, the Bank of England’s chief cashier but also taking the opportunity to highlight why cash is so important to our service users. We sent a couple of impassioned letters with our designs and are delighted to see two of our designs – the sycamore tree and the robin - featuring in BBC News – read all about it here. There was real frisson of excitement today when we fed back to our artists that they had made the news! What started as a fun and engaging activity has given our service users a voice and a real sense of satisfaction that our designs were well received.
We were further delighted that some of our designs also made it on to ITV news.
Now we’ll wait to see if any make it onto a note! Watch this space.
