Building Skills, Confidence and Pathways to Independence

25.09.2026

Ashford Place’s LifeSkills programme combines weekly two-hour workshops with individual mentoring to help adults facing complex barriers develop the practical skills and confidence needed for employment, financial stability and greater independence. Participants receive support with CVs, applications, interview preparation, budgeting, goal setting and recognising their strengths.

Every participant has progressed into paid employment or volunteering, while 15 have accessed financial aid to overcome immediate practical barriers. Grants have supported essentials such as interview clothing, laptops, housing items, professional licences, education costs and rent arrears. These outcomes show how tailored skills development, financial assistance and ongoing wellbeing support can enable people to move forward with dignity, stability and a clearer path towards their goals.
