More dementia cafes on the way

13.08.2021

Our Dementia Hubs Brent team are hard at work setting up two brand new groups for people living with dementia and their carers, to socialise, obtain advice and access advocacy in their local area.

The Rebirth Tabernacle Church on Leghorn Road in Harlesden are planning to open a dementia cafe by the end of this year. The cafe will focus on creating a safe space for people living with dementia, and are attempting to raise funds for laptops and tablets to promote the use of technology to stay connected.

St John the Evangelist Church in Wembley are working with our Development and Sustainability Lead to open a group that offers a remedy to social isolation. The group will be known as a ‘fifty-plus café’ and will take place at the church on Fridays. Catherine, the group’s co-ordinator is a Dementia Friend, meaning all attendees, whether living with dementia or not will be in safe and welcoming hands!  A big thanks to the Big Lottery and other funders who are supporting the creation of dementia cafes across the borough.
