In an age where we readily turn to our phones for entertainment or we can buy anything we want or need online, the huge mental health benefits to be gained from working with our hands to create something can be so easily forgotten. At the weekly Pottery group at Ashford Place we come together and sometimes we may make gifts for others, sometimes we may have a bit of an experiment and other times (lets be honest) there is more chatting than potting happening! Most importantly though we are engaging our hands and with each other, giving our minds a rest from the everyday worries and stresses that may be affecting our overall health.
If regular exercise isn’t possible or appealing to you then getting your hands stuck in clay and making something you can feel proud of will give you the boost you might be needing. We love to see new people come along, and if the Pottery alone isn’t enough to tempt you we have the the harmonious sounds of the singing group next door filtering into the room!
From September we’ll be working on some exciting Christmas Projects too!
