We are halfway into March, the third month of the Keep Well project! In February we have been busy speaking to Brent residents living with Dementia, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health difficulties. We have a team of guidance workers who are helping people access services and reaching out to other Brent groups that may benefit from the Keep Well project aims. Earlier last month we introduced the project, which we have worked on from both within and outside of Ashford Place. Visits to the many Memory Café’s in Brent have been a valuable by way of reaching people and signposting people to services that can help them become less dependent on GP and A&E services.
Our health focus talks have focussed on inspiring healthier eating habits and trying to keep fit and well during the winter period and develop healthy long lasting habits. Craig’s new fitness group for men which meets every Thursday at 11am has been a great success with attendees. Mondays at the wellbeing socials for people with Learning Disabilities have focused on different weekly health topics. In the Decafs, we have been asking people living with dementia or the effects of dementia what their experiences with their GPs and A&E have been and giving advice where appropriate. We have been speaking to local businesses e.g. schools and faith groups, supermarkets, hotels, gyms, coffee shops, pharmacies and many more, to enlist their help in sharing our information with Brent residents.
Our schools and social media campaigns are popular and proving to be good sources of incoming referrals.
