Parcels to contacts

03.07.2020

As the lockdown begins to ease, very slowly, we recognise that many of our clients who are living with dementia are now in a position to ensure they have enough food and household items, Over the last few months we have been in contact with neighbhours, family, friends, and volunteers, of our clients to make sure there is sufficient support for vulnerable people to manage. They really have stepped up to the plate and a big thanks in particular to Mutual Aid Willesden who have been a fantastic source of support. Tariq’s space at the Pakistani Community Centre has been the hub of goodwill, energy and of course food parcels. We have been amazed by the consistent energy of our volunteer drivers and contactors. Of course we will continue to deliver food parcels in cases of emergency. The main offer now going forward is that we continue to engage with our clients on a door step basis every week which gives us a chance to see how they are getting on and more importantly if there is anything we can support them with. We have often been told that it is the weekly visits that have been more important than the food itself although clearly the latter has been much appreciated.

And in the way that  many of us do when we visit friends we will take them a little something like a box of chocs, or flowers or something nice (diabetic and dietary  friendly of course) so we will be on the lookout for donations of these kinds of gifts. Finally, we are very aware that we approach any easing of lockdown very carefully and be mindful of local and central government guidelines.
