The creativity of our dementia group was given a boost with art therapy, when student Ka Yan, joined us as part of her course. Ka Yan wasn’t phased by COVID-19, and joined online meetings from Hong Kong, once from a cab! She took distance learning seriously, both when working with our group and for her studies. She was on a Hertfordshire University course working with the Ben Uri Gallery, so students get work experience. She provided our group with materials and images from the Ben Uri collection alongside materials found around the house.
Some of our group found out they enjoyed doing art, despite at first saying no, that's not for me. One of our group is now talking more and expressing herself through art as well. Travel restrictions has meant Ka Yan's back in HK, and aiming to join meetings from there even though she's completed her course - now feels that she’s part of the group. Thank you Ka Yan
