Social prescribing or just a chance for a chat and a cuppa

12.09.2019

Social prescribing is in Brent! This week reps from the voluntary sector, Brent Clinical Commissioning Group, Primary Care Network Leads met to talk about developing a social prescribing programme in the borough. Again, the voluntary sector will play a key part in supporting the health and wellbeing of Brent residents.

Social prescribing, sometimes referred to as community referral, is a means of enabling GP practices and others to signpost people to a range of local, non-clinical activities which are typically provided by voluntary and community sector organisations. Examples include arts activities, gardening, lunch clubs, a range of sports and exercise, volunteering and classes. Ashford Place is well placed to provide these and more.
