A shout out this week for our volunteers and staff who are in continual contact with our clients who are feeling increasingly vulnerable, alone and anxious. All involved say that clients are thrilled to hear from us and that they want to stay connected and look forward to the next call. We also, where appropriate contact family members and offer them support during this time.
Our volunteer and staff drivers delivered 30 food parcels to residents living with dementia courtesy of the Mapesbury Mutual Aid and the Pakistani Community Centre. Since the lockdown first started there has been an overwhelming response from the voluntary and statutory sectors and the wider community e.g. delivering food parcels, hot food, picking up prescriptions etc. However we are proud of the fact that our own staff and volunteers deliver to our large number of clients as the latter are happy to see us and sometimes chat on the door step/garden gate/over the fence – with the appropriate social distancing - . We worry about the impact of limited human contact will have on our client group. But delivering shopping etc is an excellent way to keep in touch and to keep spirits up.
After last weekend’s mega delivery of Easter eggs by our wonderful volunteers and staff we thought – and supplied by M&S and other supermarkets - you might want to see some of the responses from our appreciative clients. Your positive and life-affirming contributions meant so much to people in this time of anxiety and uncertainty.
