Making connections

Helping Digital Inclusion for people living with dementia and their carers to stay connected!

Reaching people who normally don’t have digital access is already complex, but now we have a pandemic to add to the equation. Digital access is now a part of everyday life, and the lack of it has a social cost.

There is an increased provision of digital services which benefits many, but can leave other vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our communities increasingly isolated.

By excluding people digitally, we are excluding them from society. Those who require access the most are often amongst those who struggle to find it.

We're already offering a blended range of services, and supported families to stay connected remotely using a range technology they are comfortable with... we are now going further... Ashford Place has joined a cohort of non-profit organisations taking part the national COVID-19 Digital Response as part of the Catalyst and The National Lottery Community Fund

Our clients living with dementia are working with our staff  to research the challenges the former face with connecting on line. With funding from the Big Lottery and Catalyst staff are – with the support of a digital partner -  carrying out ethnographic research with clients to better understand  how digital, data and design can best support them. We plan for the learning and development opportunity to progress our digital ambitions and will at the end of this phase develop a brief for further digital/design support.
