We all need a boost

27.04.2020

A bit of good news from our Housing team this week.

In February and March our Boost Up project staff have been working with thirteen young homeless people who are moving in to their new homes. They will also be offered weekly casework support as well as employment training and access to group activities and youth mentors. Due to COVID-19 we had to find a way of keeping the project running, and we have managed that with landlord's help as well as technological tools that allowed us to do everything online. Anita, who heads up the project has been conducting assessment interviews via Zoom and Skype with people who have been  referred to the project.

And to continue with the digital theme  Anita organises either Skype viewing or regular viewing while making sure that  both landlord and the client are safe e.g. landlords providing masks and gloves to our clients who are viewing the house, or simply handing over the key from safe distance and letting client to see the property on their own. All this was made possible thanks to great relations established between Ashford Place and landlords. Even in these challenging times, only in four weeks so far 10 of the 13 have moved into to their new accommodation. See some testimonies.
